High-reynolds Number Viscous Flow Computations Using an Unstructured-grid Method

چکیده
An unstructured grid method is presented to compute three-dimensional compressible turbulent flows for complex geometries. The Navier-Stokes equations along with the one equation turbulence model of Spalart-Allmaras are solved using a parallel, matrix-free implicit method on unstructured tetrahedral grids. The developed method has been used to predict drags in the transonic regime for both DLRF4 and DLR-F6 configurations to assess the accuracy and efficiency of the method. The results obtained are in good agreement with experimental data, indicating that the present method provides an accurate, efficient, and robust algorithm for computing turbulent flows for complex geometries on unstructured grids.

Unstructured Mesh Generation For Viscous Flow Computations
This paper presents a robust and automated approach to generate unstructured hybrid grids comprised of tetrahedra, prisms, and pyramids for high Reynolds number flow computations. The hybrid mesh generation starts with isotropic tetrahedral grids to enhance the robustness. The tetrahedra near no-slip walls are shifted inward and the resulting gap between the tetrahedra and the walls is filled u...
متن کاملThe Effects of Shape Parameterization on the Efficiency of Evolutionary Design Optimization for Viscous Transonic Airfoils
The effect of airfoil shape parameterization on optimum design and its influence on the convergence of the evolutionary optimization process is presented. Three popular airfoil parametric methods including PARSEC, Sobieczky and B-Spline (Bezier curve) are studied and their efficiency and results are compared with those of a new method. The new method takes into consideration the characteristics...
متن کاملAerodynamic Analysis of Transonic Manoeuvre Devices Using an Unstructured-Grid, Navier-Stokes Flow Solver
The viscous, transonic flow development around the SKF 1.1 supercritical aerofoil section, in clean configuration and equipped with either a trailing-edge flap or a leading-edge slat, is computed using an unstructured-grid based flow solver for the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. A full differential Reynolds-stress turbulence model is employed in the computations to model the Reynold...
متن کاملMultigrid Strategies for Viscous Flow Solvers on Anisotropic Unstructured Meshes
Unstructured multigrid techniques for relieving the stiffness associated with high-Reynolds number viscous flow simulations on extremely stretched grids are investigated. One approach consists of employing a semi-coarsening or directional-coarsening technique, based on the directions of strong coupling within the mesh, in order to construct more optimal coarse grid levels. An alternate approach...
متن کاملHigh Reynolds Viscous Flow Simulation Past the Elliptical Airfoil by Random Vortex Blob
In this paper, numerical simulation for a two-dimensional viscous and incompressible flow past the elliptical airfoil is presented by Random Vortex Blob (RVB). RVB is a numerical technique to solve the incompressible, two-dimensional and unsteady Navier-Stocks equations by converting them to rotational non-primitive formulations. In this method, the velocity vector at a certain point can be cal...
